Blog Party: Day Two

Day one was great, and here's the tally.
Winner of the drawing for the Day One Amazon gift certificate (drawn from my faithful U of M hat. Did you see those boys yesterday? Yay!) is Liz.
I loved everyone's answers and noted a LOT of food mentioned, especially chocolate. Oddly enough, Liz also gets tagged for the best answer, possibly because I recognized that feeling of guilt as one drags around papers that must be graded.

Note to non-authors: you are welcome to comment, even if the questions are designed for writers. You DO want to qualify for the Amazon gift certificate, so think of something to say! Also, I'll keep track of your guesses on what day my books will arrive until they get here, but please give a day and a time, so we can narrow down the field to one winner when it happens.

So here's today's question: When you are at work on a typical writing day, where will you be and what will you be wearing? Remember ONE SENTENCE, and add a link to your book for anyone who's looking to buy today!

Peg's answer: Since I write historicals, I wear an authentically antique green housecoat with lots of pulls around the bottom (the result of cat affection) when I trudge upstairs to my office at about six a.m. to start work.

  1. I am almost always in blue jeans and either a t-shirt or a sweatshirt when I sit down in my computer room cum joint dressing room to write my reviews; time of day is usually afternoon or evening.

  2. Darling, I'm in my pink palazzo on the Italian Riviera, and I wear nothing but a feather boa (unless it's chilly, and then I wear the feather boa under my sable) while I dictate my novels to Sergio, my very private secretary --NOT (but a girl can dream, can't she?)

  3. Wearing a gray T-shirt that says EAT - EDIT - SLEEP, I work in my office and frequently glance up at the stuffed vulture that perches on my modem and is named Michael Seidman for my first editor.

  4. If I'm writing before the day job starts, I'm usually in dress pants and shirt (add jacket or sweater this time of year). If I'm writing at home, I'm in ancient blue sweatpants with at least four different colors of paint splattered on them, a teeshirt that says "Careful or I'll put you in my novel", and a sweatshirt that says "Too many books, too little time." And I often have a cat on my lap.

  5. During the creating, not typing, phase--I will be on the couch in my jammies, with the dog, coffee(French roast with real cream please), my current favorite pen and a cheap spiral notebook.

  6. Since my writing day begins when "working for the man" ends, you'll find me at my computer after 6:30 pm wearing pj bottoms or sweatpants topped by a deconstructed T-shirt (neck, arm, and bottom hems all cut off). What, not sexy?

  7. Oh, yeah, Diane, I have my favorite sweatshirt, too. It's got a Staples logo on it from when my son worked there in '95 and a few stains from when I've worn it to dye my hair.

  9. I'm amazed at how many of the authors "dress" for work - when I work from home, it's fleece pants and top. But I guess I need to add a feather boa so I can look like Lois. smile..

  10. It sounds like the pajama and sweatwear companies would lose half their income if authors had to leave home to write!

    Love this party!!!

  11. My writing life is a "come as you are" party, writing anywhere I happen to be--lucky passers by when the front door is open and I'm working
    at my dining room table.

  12. Liz couldn't make Blogger let her in today (it's eccentric), but here's her post

I like to really enjoy writing so I wear the ugliest, cheapest Costco men's flannel
pj bottoms I can find, a sweatshirt that generally doesn't match and fuzzy
    slippers.

Side note: you'd think that would keep me chained to my desk but I do occasionally
sneak out in that outfit and horrify the neighbors.

Additional side note: One of the neighbors has since moved across town.

  13. Reader writes by email:
I do my best sewing projects during the wee hours of the morning and very late hours of the night with the window cracked open any season while wearing my kitty cat printed turquoise pajamas and super fluffy oversized fleece slippers as I am being hourly and half hourly serenaded to by two cuckoo clocks throughout my working time.

I do love mystery stories whether in a book, TV, or movie theatre form. Recognizing possible clues to lead me to "Who did it?" is fun, and sometimes I am right on while other times, oh boy, I am I totally way off. The outcome is always a surprise one way or another, and Peg, you certainly do a terrific job of keeping me on my toes when I read your mysteries. Keep up the good work!
